The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) is a voluntary federal program that provides financial and technical assistance to producers that address resource concerns. These concerns include items such as: water and air quality, erosion and sedimentation concerns, soil health, drought and weather volatility mitigation, among a few other concerns. The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) works one-on-one with these producers to help develop a conservation plan. Financial assistance is also available through this program. EQIP was originally established under the 1996 Farm Bill.

The Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) is a federal program that helps build up a producer's existing conservation efforts, while stregthening their current operation. NRCS can create a custom CSP plan to help a producer meet their goals. Annual payments are offered for implementing these new practices on the land.
